INITIATIVES"

Karl Nebel, Vice President, North Highland
Panelists: Tony Hughes, Sr.VP & CIO, CNL Shared Services
Vicki Hall, VP IT, Darden Restaurants
Dave Patrishkoff, CEO, Innovative Solutions Group
Business problem: Value Management (VM) allows organizations to understand the potential impacts of their actions on value drivers (Cash Flow, Working Capital, etc.) within the business.
With the right analysis VM can define and monitor the business process impacts (Business Process Management) that are to be achieved from an IT investment. However VM is seldom used through out the entire IT initiative to ensure that the projected value to business will be obtained.
Solution: VM must be incorporated as a mandatory component of any IT initiative. Its role in the success of the initiative must be articulated in the business case prior to project commencement. Included should be the overall VM/BPM approach to the initiative along with a clear Business Executie Sponsor, accountable for the results.

, EVP, VigilantMinds
Panelists: Roy Santarella, CFO, Standford Hospital and Clinics
                 John Benzinger, VP IT, FreeMarkets
Chuck Mance, Director of IT, Respironics
Business problem: Privacy and Security have become Board room issues. New regulations and the threat of cyber-terrorism have increased executive awareness of cyber-security. The time that it takes for a known system vulnerability to be transformed into an automated virus or worm is decreasing exponentially - increasing the risks to all businesses. Many executives see security as a "black hole" for expenditures - now and into the future. How can an enterprise determine the "right" level of security - and security spending - for their business?
Discussion: An expert panel will discuss key concepts and components of obtaining the best return on security investment for their enterprises. Business issues such as risk management, organizational awareness, globalization, brand image, and regulatory requirements will be discussed. Path forward actions for the implementation of high impact enterprise security programs based upon "real-world" experiences will be presented.

“HOW CNL USES PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT TO DRIVE SUCCESS”
Moderated by: Tony Hughes
, SVP and CIO, CNL Shared Services
Panelists: Renee Tanner, Dir. Of Performance Mgmt, CNL Shared Services
Thomas Horvath, VP of Bus. Development, CNL Shared Insights
Joe Nicholson, VP of Marketing, DecisionPoint Applications
Business Problem: Now more than ever, the ability to execute is the key to competitive advantage and growth. The ability to see, understand, and respond quickly to key operational and financial metrics across the enterprise is essential to increase revenues, improve customer satisfaction, manage talent, and lower costs. At the same time, new regulatory requirements and increased emphasis on corporate governance haw added challenges for corporate reporting. Without a focus on critical measures and results, a company will fall short in realizing goals and maximizing its potential.
Solution: Companies today require a comprehensive Performance Management System to achieve their objectives. Performance Management focuses and aligns the full force of an organization’s resources – human, financial, and otherwise. It enables a company to clearly communicate the vision and to measure and adjust to what is truly important.

, President, Robert Frances Group
Panelists: Don Bailey, Partner, Business Risk Services, Grant Thorton
Dave Rasmussen, President, Stratner Company LLC
Thomas Ward, VP & CIO, Hughes Supply
Business Problem: The year-old Sarbanes-Oxley regulation impacts the Finance and IT organizations more than any other corporate departments. IT executives are getting concurring and conflicting inputs from internal auditors, outside consultants, software vendors, and others on what to do to comply with the regulations. IT executives are seeking unbiased inputs as to what actions to take to achieve compliance.
Discussion: The moderator will review the applicable components of SOX and then turn it over to the panelists. The panelists, in turn, will address how they worked with other business units to determine what technologies should be applied and how they used SOX as an opportunity to justify needed data integrity, integration, reporting, and security improvements.

"COMPUTER SECURITY THREATS FACING IT TODAY. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW"
Presented by: Russell Hayes
, FBI Tampa, Florida
Steve Spiewak, Sr. Marketing Manager, Iron Mountain
Business problem: With the availability of more sophisticated software and an increase in employee discontent, more IT departments are finding their computers and data to be at greater risk both through the network and from behind the console. The majority of these breaches of security could be eliminated if IT personnel were made aware of the issues and threats beforehand in order to set policies and procedures to combat the threats.

Moderated by: Dan Russell
, Regional Vice President of Business Development, CIBER
Panelists: Ravi Joseph, President, CIBER India LTD
Mark Perlstein, Vice President, CIBER IT Operations Services
Business problem: IT executives are facing the daunting challenge of trying to deliver more value for the same or less cost. Outsourcing vendors claim to deliver improved service at lower costs. Why are they able to make this claim and how do they achieve it? And does the potential reward outweigh the risk. Outsourcing may be a tool for the CIO to do more with less. Many executives struggle with balancing the risks and rewards in determining if this model will work for their organization.
