KEYNOTE ADDRESS – “FAA TAKES THE OFFENSIVE ON CYBER DEFENSE – AGENCY'S ANDROID' AIMS TO EMULATE RESILIENCE”
Presented by: Dr. Dan Mehan, CIO, FAA
Discussion: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) maintains, operates, and regulates the largest and most complex aviation system in the world. The FAA's goals are to increase safety, provide for greater capacity in the airspace, demonstrate international leadership, and be a model of organizational excellence. Effective management of a vast and complex web of information about aircraft, weather, runway conditions, maintenance facilities, navigational aids, and a myriad of other elements in the National Airspace System (NAS) is paramount to realizing these goals. This emphasis on information management brings with it a need to ensure that data is neither corrupted nor disrupted as it is shared across today's interconnected world. To secure its cyber infrastructure, the FAA has developed and is implementing an android model for cyber defense that emulates one of the most resilient systems in the world—the human body. In my keynote, I will explain the six principal elements of the android cyber defense model and discuss the manner in which the model uses, but also augments, past approaches to cyber defense. I will also outline the challenges and opportunities associated with using this model to provide a balanced defense for the types of cyber attacks expected over the remainder of this decade.

"THE EXPANDING ROLE OF DATA PROTECTION INTO CORPORATE GOVERNANCE, REGULATORY COMPLIANCE, AND ENTERPRISE VALUE PROTECTION"
Presented by: Richard Scannell, “Co-founder of GlassHouse Technologies, SVP North American Consulting, and recognized industry speaker on business issues that CIO’s are struggling with”
Business Problem:  Data Protection has changed from being focused on Data Recovery to Enterprise Protection.
IT Solution: A new set of technologies combined with a need for significantly more mature processes. Historically, system failures and data loss typically resulted in lost time to market, resulting in the cost of re-work, lost opportunity and personal inconvenience. More recently, as scrutiny around data management has increased both by regulators wanting transparency in business dealings and by consumers wanting to ensure their privacy and personal information is protected, data protection has expanded in definition to cover not only recovery from data loss, but also data security, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance.  Far from just additional cost of reproducing data, failures in data protection today can result in significant fines, brand confidence erosion and in the extreme criminal prosecution. With this shifting focus comes a need for even tighter controls and more mature processes in an area of IT all too often neglected as unsexy and of no value-add.  Data Protection is fast becoming the Achilles heel of many corporate governance and policy decisions and as such IT executives must develop a comprehensive strategy to address it and maintain it as a center of excellence.

KEYNOTE PANEL - "SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES FOR TODAY'S CIO - WHERE TO GET THE HELP THEY REALLY NEED!"
Moderated by: Sheleen Quish, VP & CIP, US Can Corporation
Panelists: Frank Mallinder, President, The Learning Institute
                 Joe Kim, Co-Founder Leadvantage Inc.
                 Others TBD
Discussion: A recently published survey of IT decision makers identified the top IT priorities in 2005. Overall, the IT decisions makers indicated that their top priorities are about people in 7 out of 10 categories. Getting C-level support was at the top of the list, closely followed by the importance of skilled staff to deliver a solid level of support. The challenge today is all about managing internal customer expectations, project management and return on investment. Technically centric IT management is not going to survive. How do you develop the leadership, communications and management skills to contribute to your company's bottom line? How do you survive and, more importantly thrive in this changing paradigm? This panel of CIO's, IT managers and IT coaches will discuss and debate the approaches and techniques. We will take a couple of case study/instant makeovers from the audience to round out the discussion.

Presented by: Len A. Lombardo, Chief Information Officer, Enterprise Technology TransUnion,                         LLC
Greg Myers, Business Transformation Outsourcing Practice,
                        Program Executive Acxiom Corporation
Business Problem: Data-intensive companies are operating in an increasingly competitive marketplace that demands customer data be more accurate and complete, better decisions be made more quickly, new products be developed and brought to market faster, and information technology (IT) meet the needs of the business more readily. But the reality is that your IT may be inflexible, outdated and very costly to operate – preventing you from doing things better, faster and cheaper. While your competition is adopting a “disruptive technology” that can transform their business, you might be losing market share, revenue and shareholder value.
IT Solution: Acxiom’s “disruptive technology” combines sophisticated grid-enabled data processing with customer data management expertise enabling companies to reach a higher level of competitiveness. The result: improved revenues, profits and shareholder value.
