HIGH PERFORMANCE IT 2008: THERE’S NO SUBSTITUTE FOR SUBSTITUTION
Moderated by: Bob Suh, Former Chief Technology Strategist, Accenture
Discussion: Enterprise IT is in a phase of major change, propelled by technology already in the consumer and enterprise domain. Accenture’s recent High Performance IT research, launched in January of this year shows that most innovation in technology, and resulting business innovation enabled by technology, will be driven by existing technology, not new or breakthrough technology. Technology readiness is not an issue. But the adoption of technology is an issue. In his presentation, Bob Suh, will discuss how Consumer Internet companies have raised expectations around user experience, participation, mobile access and real time responsiveness. He will share the corporate implications of a new trend Accenture is seeing called “user determined computing” – users bringing technology in to the enterprise based on their experiences outside the enterprise to meet a business need. This trend is occurring in most enterprises and is circumventing firewalls and other corporate restrictions and is one CIOs cannot ignore.

“DATA GOVERNANCE: WHAT WORKS AND WHAT DOESN’T”
Moderated by: Eric Offenberg, Worldwide Product Marketing Manager, Optim, IBM

Discussion: The demand for trusted information continues to spiral upward, driven not only by investments in CRM, ERP, SCM, BI, and data warehousing, but also next-generation strategic initiatives in master data management (MDM) and information-as-a-service (IaaS). The cross-enterprise complexity of these emerging business requirements have led to an obvious yet often ignored fact: Technology is only part of the solution. Until you understand and embrace data governance, your information management initiatives won't deliver their promised value. Effective governance requires defining organizational roles and responsibilities, including ownership of the processes and policies by which information is captured, maintained, and consumed. In this session we will explore best practices and shared learnings for implementing effective governance strategies, while avoiding costly mistakes.
