"SECURING YOUR DATA AND YOUR BRAND: A DATA PRIVACY CASE STUDY"
Introduced by: Michael Katalinich, Princeton Softech
Presented by: David R. Wade, CIO/EVP, Primerica Financial Services
Discusion: Data Privacy breaches are making headlines, as organizations scramble to protect the confidentiality of their critical customer and business data and protect their brands. According to Gartner, 70 percent of data breaches are internal to corporations in the non-production environments of Development, Test, QA, and Training. While many organizations today, rely on encryption strategies to ensure data privacy protection, this has been shown to leave large volumes of data vulnerable. In this presentation by David Wade and Michael Katalinich, we will examine how one organization has taken a proactive approach to combat security threats, ensure customer confidence and privacy, while also supporting compliance with local, state, national, international, and industry-based privacy regulations. “RENOVATING LEGACY SOFTWARE SYSTEMS”
Presented by: Tom Love, Co-Founder and CEO, ShouldersCorp; Formerly, CEO, WorldStreet Corporation; Managing Director, Morgan Stanley and Vice President of IBM Consulting Group.
Discussion: Many organizations depend upon legacy software systems that were designed and implemented in the 1970s or earlier. These systems have operational procedures, critical business rules and workflow embedded which are difficult to replicate and are typically not recorded anywhere else within the organization. This presentation by Dr. Tom Love describes an innovative approach to renovating these applications by first improving the support organization's processes and procedures inorder to stabilize the
application(s) and then re-engineering the application(s) using state of the art software technology and agile methods. The approach outlined allows such renovating to be largely financed with the savings derived from more efficiently managing legacy systems. Mitigating the risks associated with a traditional development initiative while enabling the organization to reduce costs and remain competitive are key points of his presentation.

“HOW TO MEASURE ANYTHING: FINDING THE VALUE OF INTANGIBLES IN BUSINESS”
Presented by: Doug Hubbard, President of Hubbard Decision Research
Discussion: Doug Hubbard will discuss his upcoming book about how to measure things usually considered “immeasurable”. He asserts that the idea that some things are immeasurable is based on a set of misconceptions about statistics and measurement in general or, in many cases, a lack of a clear definition of what the proposed “intangible” really is. Whatever is relevant for a business to know must have observable consequences. This presentation from the book will include:
  • The three reasons why anything is ever (incorrectly) thought to be immeasurable
  • Quick and simple methods for measuring any uncertain quantity
  • An overview of some of the more advanced methods
  • Interesting examples of where “impossible” measurements had clever solutions.
